Course Overview

This course describes the PE polymerization reaction kinetics and reactor design in detail. The main focus is found on the actual polymerization reactors and their design and operation. Each different polymerization scheme is investigated, and the respective reactors are presented in detail. Reaction kinetics in each type are presented and explained. Phase equilibria, fluid flows and especially heterogeneous fluid flows and transfer mechanisms are key factors to this course.

Objective:

  • To understand Ethylene polymerization procedures
  • To learn Ethylene polymerization reaction schemes
  • To learn Ethylene polymerization catalytic routes
  • To understand all Ethylene polymerization reactors and their attributes
  • To understand control of polymerization reaction kinetics
  • To understand polymerization reaction thermodynamics
