Heat of reaction and its calculation.

Equilibrium constant and how it influences reaction direction.
Heat addition and removal during reactions.
Energy balance in chemical reactions and processes.

Day 3: Reaction Kinetics

Reaction rate and factors affecting it.
Elementary reactions and their mechanisms.
Multiple reactions and their interactions.
Reaction mechanism and identifying the rate-determining step.
Mass transfer and heat transfer in reactions.
Homogeneous catalysis and its applications.
Heterogeneous catalysis and its role in chemical processes.

Introduction to process control in chemical reactions.
Typical reaction control loops and their operation.
Control strategies for Batch Stirred Tank Reactors (BSTRs).
Control systems for Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors (CSTRs).
Control mechanisms in Tubular Reactors for optimal performance.
