Inspirational business quotes from famous films
To celebrate the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) that is currently running from the 14th – 25th of May, London TFE has put together a short list of inspirational business quotes from famous films that contain great lessons in business, learning, development and success.
1. The Pursuit of Happiness
The Pursuit of Happiness is based on the true story of Chris Gardener who never gave up on his dreams and defeated homelessness as a single father with a young child to become a successful stockbroker. The story is very inspirational with its spirit of never giving up!
Here is our favourite quote in relation to learning:
“There was a language specific to all things. The ability to learn another language in one arena, whether it was music, medicine, or finance, could be used to accelerate learning and other arenas, too.”
- Chris Gardner, The Pursuit of Happiness
2. Joy
The film Joy is based on another true story about a single mother of 3 that struggles to make ends meet until she makes an invention that changes everything! She creates her own enterprise whilst dealing with the struggles of family and untrustworthy business allies.
Here is a great quote in relation to hard work!
“We got here from hard work, patience, and humility. So I want to tell you, don't ever think the world owes you anything because it doesn't. The world doesn't owe you a thing.”
- Joy Mangano
3. The Wolf of Wall Street
Another true story based on the story of Jordan Belfort, known as The Wolf of Wall Street, follows the rise and fall of a wealthy and extremely successful stockbroker who free falls from success into imprisonment.
Here is a great quote about persistence and another on learning from your mistakes.
“If you have persistence, you will come out ahead of most people. More importantly, you will learn. When you do something, you might fail. But that’s not because you’re a failure. It’s because you have not learnt enough. Do it differently each time. One day, you will do it right. Failure is your friend.”
- Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street
