Explore Tbilisi with London TFE in-person training

With travel continuing to open up this summer, London TFE is proud to announce a new location for in-person training – Tbilisi.

Part of the Caucasus region, Tbilisi is the capital and largest city of Georgia.

Often referred to as the ‘Rome of the Causasus’, Tbilisi has plenty to offer the eager explorer. From its beautiful scenery, picturesque Old Town and eclectic architecture, you can expect your down time to be as rich and interesting as your London TFE training course.

Here we share a few highlights of the city which is deemed the 7th safest in the world, as well as the courses available at this amazing location.

Top Tbilisi sights to visit

Once your training is finished for the day we recommend finding time to visit the following sights:

The Old Town
A maze of squares and narrow lanes, the Old Town is lined with an array of wooden houses, cafes, ancient stone churches, tiled mosques, synagogues and shops. In particular, don’t miss the Leaning Tower of Tbilisi, built by puppet master Rezo Gabriadze in 2010.  Look out for the statement time-piece, in which an angel appears from a door and strikes a bell every hour.

The Thermal Baths
With ‘Tbili’ being the Georgian word for ‘warm’ it’s no surprise to find Thermal Baths in the city. You can find them in the Abanotubani district, with the authentic ritual of a 15-minutes soak followed by a scrub, a massage and an ice-cold rinse recommended.

The Bridge of Peace
This is a bow shaped, pedestrian only glass and steel structure which was designed by Michele De Lucchi and opened in 2010. The bridge links the west side of the Mtkvari River with flower-filled Rike Park.

The Dry Bridge Market
Arguably the best and most popular open-air flea-market in Tbilisi. Here you can pick up all sorts of knick-knacks and souvenirs to remember your trip by. Locals recommend visiting on a weekend to get the best selection of stalls.

Where to stay in Tbilisi

With direct flights from Gatwick and Saudi Arabia becoming more frequent, a flurry of new hotels has been popping up in Tbilisi. And there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.

Located within Vera, a charming and historic quarter of Tbilisi, The Stamba is touted as the most stylish hotel in the city. This hotel boasts five floors of all manner of luxuries including free standing brass bathtubs, a glass-bottom rooftop pool, a grand café and a two-floor casino.

Offering a premium location for business and pleasure, the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel can be found in the city centre. Along with panoramic views across the cityscape, the hotel offers a sky-top bar, a casino and a world class spa.

If you are looking for a hotel close to cultural venues, the Courtyard by Marriot would be a good choice. Located in Freedom Square, the hotel is just short stroll to the galleries, museums and the Rustaveli Theatre and State Opera House. In addition, the fitness centre, indoor pool and sauna will allow you to wind down from a day of training and sight-seeing.
